Ninawa Pai da Mata from the Huni Kuin people was our first alliance. Since 2015, we have raised funds for his village to build an artesian well, a school, a cultural center, and five residential houses. Thanks to this work, the village’s festival Eskawata Kayawei has welcomed considerably more visitors from around the world to learn from the forest and the rich cultural heritage of the Huni Kuin. This provides the whole community the resources to maintain sovereignty and strengthen their culture and identity.
